Mace Consult HR is going downhill - HR Staff Mace Employee Review

The company is splitting into two, Mace Consult and Mace Construct. Mace Consult has recently been bought by private equity. Mace Construct retains the old ownership structure. Mace Construct has retained most of the old HR leadership team, and Mace Consult has formed a new one using existing HR staff. This review is about Mace Consult. No one in the Mace Consult HR team seems to be happy and many people are looking for new roles. Some people have taken a pay cut to move into Mace Construct rather than stay in Mace Consult. HR Leadership is inexperienced but won’t listen, doesn’t share key information, isn’t collaborative, then points fingers at others when things go wrong. There is no self reflection on the part they have played, and no accountability or ownership or true leadership. Expectations of HR team members have become unachievable and there is no partnership between the various HR teams, things just get thrown over the fence. Budgets are being cut, people have been made redundant and are expected to take on the roles of other people on top of their own role. Short sighted decisions are being made to drive short term value for private equity shareholders. People throw each other under the bus, in front of the business, in order to survive. Under the old Mace HR leadership team, they worked hard to create a cultural shift within HR to work as partners with each other and support each other, and were willing and skilled to work with the business and help them navigate people issues, instead of just doing what the business wants. We could see our long term value through measurable impact and metrics. All that work is now being undone and we can already see the impact of this in our metrics. There are open positions in HR at Mace Consult but I won’t recommend my former colleagues to join because of the toxic culture. I would recommend them to consider Mace Construct instead. Mace Consult is a great international business with a lot of potential. Mace Construct is a smaller business, UK focussed, but will provide a more fulfilling HR career and growth, simply because of the different leadership style and culture within the team.
