Pros

Small bit of autonomy and property management experience

Cons

Extremely stressful to work as a Property Representative or Lead. The company does not own the properties, but instead, manages them for the property owners. This creates an extremely stressful job because many of the owners want to micromanage which interferes with performing the job. There are some owners who we have to get prior authorization from to do repairs or work orders and some of these owners will not authorize necessary repairs. This leads to unhappy tenants who do not hesitate to complain about the Property Rep. What's worse is MPM will side with the tenant in order to please the owner even though the owner not authorizing the repair is the problem, not the rep. MPM does not have their employees backs. Then you have to travel to do onsite inspections which can be pretty far out depending on the properties you manage. There are also many, many whiny tenants who call you because the two pieces of concrete slab do not have salt on them at 4am when they went to work. Instead of taking the salt scooper that sits right on one of the concrete slabs and putting salt on one of the two concrete slabs, they will call in to complain. I had one tenant complain that she could not get out of her underground garage at 7am even though the snowstorm started around 6am and the owner hired his own company to handle the salting and snow removal. The company always put that property at the bottom of the list. Well of course, I called to let the owner know about the problem, he did nothing, so the tenants called to complain that I did something wrong. So, this is only the minimum of the stress at this company. The staff is nice, but the job is stressful. Put it like this, every single Property Lead smokes cigarettes and most of them say they do not start smoking until they get to work. They all huddle up outside on several cigarette breaks a day.

Pros

I worked at Madison Property Management in Encinitas for 5 years. The owner was always fair and seemed to always be courteous to the tenants.

Cons

Being called in when something was needed.

Pros

The health insurance doesn't suck. It's expensive but it's quartz and pretty comprehensive.

Cons

This organization is the definition of dysfunctional. They seem to have no idea how to operate in the 21st century both from a technical perspective and from a benefits perspective. Their offices occupy a dark grungy moldy building that should have been torn down 20 years. It's giving asylum vibes with no windows to speak of. They can't be bothered to spend any Capitol to even provide office furniture that doesn't look like it was acquired 3rd hand. Leadership (notably all family members or friends of family) spends all their time arguing personal agendas instead of leading. Meetings never actually lead to decisions, everyone walks away and just does what they wanted to in the first place regardless of what was said in the meeting. There is no training program for new employees. They fire at least one person per week seemingly out of the blue. There is no retirement benefits, PTO is 5 days starting. Yes you read that right. It will take you 10 years to get to 10 days.
