Pros

The software works and the team is great, there is unlimited PTO and the ability to work from home.

Cons

There’s a very real disconnect that becomes more apparent the more time you spend at this company, from both a sales motion perspective and the communication between upper management. In my short tenure, I was one of 5 people who quit. Founder's bias & ego are very real and unnecessary hindrances that do not contribute to a pleasant work environment. There is a general lack of emotional intelligence that wears heavily on those not on the founding team and a refusal to acknowledge blatant communication gaps.

I am especially glad to hear that you appreciate the team at Mapistry, the benefits (WFH and unlimited PTO), and the software we have been building over the past five years. It is tough to lose teammates, but not everyone will stay at Mapistry forever, and we have had people leave over the past year due to life/personal situations, different work opportunities, and company/role fit. I wish we knew the secret sauce to make everyone a buyer of Mapistry the first time we pitched them, but we sell to large enterprises with a complex sales process that takes time. This can be really frustrating to not only myself but also the sales team. However, as we have grown over the past few years we have learned a lot in how to sell Mapistry and communicate our unique value proposition both externally and internally. I am sorry you did want to stay at Mapistry and wish you success in your future endeavors.

Pros

You will learn only one lesson here: how your ego can destroy the workplace ambience and how you can avoid it.

Cons

The ego of the founders was too fragile. These evil people fought amongst each other and made things awfully uncomfortable for the staff. Employees witnessed their aggressive and poor behavior almost every day. Some even feared talking to these horrible people. It ruined the workplace ambience and made day-to-day life ridiculously stressful.

As one of the founders, it’s tough to read that someone had an experience that felt this negative, and I’m genuinely sorry if our actions contributed to that. We’ve grown a lot both as individuals and as a company since the early days, and part of that growth has come from hearing feedback like yours, even when it’s painful. Startups can be intense, and as founders we can make mistakes and can let stress show up in ways that impact others. That’s something I take seriously.
