Pros

Small, tight-knit group, but very welcoming to new employees. Some employees use it as a stepping stone for their career path and others have been there for 15+ years. It is really up to you. Being a small company, your team member on a job could actually be the owner, so the lines of supervision can be softer than with other larger companies. Nice benefits package with matching 401k.

Cons

Low pay for most positions. Family business. If you are involved and close with the members of the family, it helps. But it is definitely a typical family-run business, complete with nepotism on occasion.

Pros

I'm a 5+ year employee of Matrix Networks. One of the qualities that originally attracted me was the friendly atmosphere. People smile and say hello, which was a welcome change from my previous job. The management team is supportive to workers - both with initial training and with continuing job growth. Learning is encouraged, and that value is shared on the customer side, as well. Because it's a small company (under 35 employees) teams actually work well because there is face-to-face accountability. We want to do a good job for each other and the customer. I never feel hung out to dry by my coworkers. We're committed to the project's success.

Cons

It is a small, family-run business so that can feel claustrophobic sometimes. There is a good work/life balance philosophy in place, but the technology we use makes it all too easy to do work outside office hours.
