This company has a lot of potential and could do well however with the current management It definitely won't. If you are considering joining this company to work then there is a few things to be aware of. Don't expect to be thanked for anything but definitely expect to be blamed, though the company management team will go about the culture we are building and 5 rules we are applying.
The most common phrase that you will hear in product meetings is "We don't blame" however when something goes wrong, or feature is not meeting deadline the first question that will come up in those same meetings is "Who's at fault".
This is a company that promotes staff to higher positions not because they deserve it or are even going to be good at it but because it is cheaper to give a small increase in wages but do a bigger role. There is managers at this company that honestly doesnt know anything about manging people even when they have been sent to multiple courses. There is staff/managers that you will see do nothing all apart disturb or distract others but still don't lose their job or called out on because they are friends with management, btw this individual has finally left a year or so ago on his own accord because he got a better job somewhere else.
This leads well in to my next part, what would make you a good fit for this company.
• If you are friends with a member of management, you will be in heaven.
• If you are willing to work without any promotions, this is the perfect place because at this company there is no ability to climb the company ladder unless you meet the condition above but also because the company is too small to actually get promoted as a role.
• If you are willing to work with no pay rise, this is the place because depending on your manager if you ask for a pay rise you will either be told the company is not in healthy place so we are not able to give pay rise or you will be put on PIP.
• Lastly, if you like being on PIP, this is the place for you as this company love putting staff on PIP and when you are put on PIP the manager will decide if you come off it not based on you meeting performance goals or developing specific skills within palpable targets but on the managers personal opinion.
If I had to summarise this company, it would the following. This is a company that can achieve a lot but if only the currently management step aside and true managers came in to replace them who actually knew how to run a business of the size they have become because the most of the current managers are still of the mindset of business size they were before the management buyout and have not grown with the company.
