Pros

-decent pay for manual labor -5 unpaid call in days after probationary period -paid vacation time (only for full-time with lots of tenure) -generally a steady paycheck -damaged product is recouped/available to buy in cafeteria -food is prepared for lunch breaks for purchase -stipend for safety shoes

Cons

-insurance changes annually to reduce company cost, reducing coverage and increasing premiums -production is based on ARBITRARY GOAL TIMES, not on weight or product moved per hour, which means goal times CAN BE/ARE ADJUSTED without notice to the employees -reduced goal times and unrealistic expectations have led to an environment where proper lifting habits cannot be practiced, and shortcuts are made in order to meet production -truck drivers have similarly experienced the cuts: driving trips have an allotted trip time (which are obviously too short to realistically complete in time) with a reduced compensation rate after crossing the trip time threshold -first shift generally works around holidays, while second/third shift generally will work on holidays if the holiday lands on an employee's regular weekly schedule (Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas) -1st shift has a time schedule, sometimes required to work an additional hour: 2nd shift has a scheduled starting time and is required to work until orders are filled (can be 8 hours or 15 hours) -loyal warehouse employees that work many years with the company do not carry over years of service when moving to jobs outside of the warehouse (ex. moving from warehouse to truck driver) -especially as a food distributor, cafeteria food could be improved
