Pros

I have worked for Merriam-Webster for over 15 years and have seen many good times and some not-so-good times (like many other companies during the recession), but my adaptability allowed me to go with the flow and I stuck with this great company through thick and thin. My co-workers feel like family, no matter what location they are working from. I applaud the new management for guiding us forward with positivity and excellence, for setting a good example, for breaking down barriers and old limiting beliefs, removing silos, and bringing all employees together to work as one fantastic team. It is amazing to see that the company has grown and prospered in leaps and bounds in a very short period of time. Thank you Merriam-Webster/Britannica for being a company that I am truly proud to work for!

Cons

There isn’t much to complain about. Matching 401K would be helpful.

Pros

The company has adapted very well to new working conditions. Management reacted quickly and effectively to the fast-changing situation in order to keep employees safe. The company has been flexible and supportive of the needs of employees during the pandemic, and has also provided the tools we need to do our jobs successfully from home. We love words and we want to help the public understand the lingo surrounding COVID. We were able to adjust our schedule to prioritize entering and revising COVID-related terms in our online dictionary. I am so lucky to work for a company that is dedicated to the love of language and knowledge, while also truly caring for its employees.

Cons

Merriam-Webster is an old company steeped in long-standing traditions, so sometimes we can be slow to adapt to new practices and new technologies. That makes me all the more impressed by how quickly M-W has adapted to the pandemic situation.
