Metro Testing & Engineering Response

Hi there, Joel here from the HR team. Thanks for your review! We noticed that this was an issue. So this year we just launched our new one-week training schedule for all our co-op students that attend Metro during their co-op term. We’ve put an emphasis on field and theory in the program so that all our students are more than well-equipped before heading out into the field. As a Coop student you'll now receive a number of reviews along your term to ensure we maintain great communication.

Pros

Great work environment with very supportive managers and engineering leaders. Even while working in Fort St. John, I had the opportunity to collaborate with engineers from the Lower Mainland and learn from their experience, which added a lot of value to my development. This is a very good company for early-career growth in geotechnical engineering. I was able to gain hands-on experience in project management, proposal writing, and client communication. The team is patient with the learning process and truly supports professional development. They also provide strong support for the EIT process and encourage growth toward obtaining your P.Eng, which makes a big difference for young engineers starting their careers.

Cons

Like many companies, there can be periods with fewer projects available. Additionally, most projects tend to be small to medium in size, so opportunities to work on larger or more complex projects may be limited depending on the branch.
