Pros

Interning at MiResource was great because it introduced me to pace of work necessary to be involved in a startup and also gave me a lot of skills I can apply to future experiences. Open lines of communication with the CEO and every other executive and staff member and affiliate at the company, really kind welcoming attitude from everyone I interacted with, encouragement to ask questions and clarify whenever needed, and full responsibility for my actions which was great as a young student! I loved this internship, it was a really positive experience.

Cons

The only cons were out of my control. As I started the internship when the pandemic started, I was sad I couldn’t have this experience in person! I truly don’t have any criticisms about this experience it was very rewarding and gave me a lot of confidence to keep my motivation high for future experiences.

Pros

miResource is truly a community work environment with a really positive and supportive team. Higher ups genuinely care about you as an employee and are willing to give you time off if you need it for mental or physical health reasons as well as talk to you about what's going on. You are never working on a project that's isolated from the group and always know what your work is contributing to and what it's value is to the company. The company's work via Slack means that you're always kept abreast of what's going on, even outside of your personal work. I feel like a part of a well-oiled, very human machine. Aside from the work environment, the company's mission is inspiring. So many sites lack the search parameters to help people find access to the care they need, and miResource is seeking to make the process less daunting and far more selective, for example allowing patients to search for LGBTQIA+ or BIPOC practitioners or search for providers who offer sliding scale payments, which aren't features on most sites. I'm very proud to say that I work at miResource.

Cons

I would say the only con is that the work can be a little fluid, which is actually a pro for many people. As someone who prefers more structure, this can be challenging for me, but it's helpful to learn how to work with a workflow like this.
