Pros
I appreciate working in an entrepreneurial organization that is very focused on making change and gives its staff leeway in how things get done. It is very collaborative and respectful of local organizations that are lead in their respective countries. There is a strong focus on being a team player in hiring and that as the highest value during the hiring process which leads to a very pleasant and supportive environment. Compensation is also top of class for similar groups. The organization is expanding with successful fundraising on the basis of a very strong track record for moving entire sectors. Mighty works on issues that often get forgotten in mainstream climate and forest advocacy from commodity supply chains (leather, beef, rubber, soy, palm) to heavy industry CO2 emissions and also forest impacts to forest impacts from wood biomass use for electricity production.
Cons
Earlier on there were problems with this freedom taken too far with fiefdoms run by talented and charismatic individuals that were unaccountable and ended up causing problems internally and externally. Mighty Earth as a younger organization lacked systems and controls and made mistakes in how the campaigns were managed. Learnings also weren't shared between teams limiting effectiveness of newer issue areas and making newer staff feel less supported.
