Pros

Most employees display an extensive knowledge of safe working procedures and pay is good (roughly $30/hr starting rate), for employees with only 12th grade educations.

Cons

HR refuses to put in the effort to eliminate dangerous workers who put others at high risk. In this environment, working with high emotions and/or not working collaboratively, regardless of whether you love or detest your coworker(s), can be extremely dangerous for everyone on the floor. Working with heavy duty equipment and machinery in an unsafe way can lead to fatalities if not handled properly, or if hazards are not reported and/or repaired.

Pros

The culture is strong and upper management genuinely cares about the safety of the employees, strong teams are a priority.

Cons

Management is scared to hold employees accountable for their poor behaviour and actions. The fear of unionization is strong and, as such, the hourly employees are held much less accountable. STD is provided by the company which would ordinarily be a positive but, because it is fully paid employees routinely take advantage of and abuse it. There is not a lot of room for opinion that is contrary to that of Management. There is much talk about it being valued but most often it's ignored or not taken seriously, express your opinion often enough and you are labeled "negative"
