Pros
Having worked in the industry for quite some time, with experience at a range of firms, I can confidently say that while Mindsight isn't perfect - it really is a great place. Operationally, for a company of this size, the amount of tools and processes that have been developed and put in place are incredibly impressive. There are libraries of resources available to provide researchers with a foundation to build on for every project. Processes have been carefully built to streamline workflows and manage workloads. I've worked at places that are twice the size and have 10+ years on Mindsight that have less organization leaving people wasting time spinning their wheels unnecessarily. The department leaders - particularly Operations and Insights leaders - care so much about managing their teams' workloads that they often take on the burden of additional work themselves. They are constantly monitoring timelines and workloads to identify pinch points and quickly look for solutions. While there are still times when capacity of the team is pushed to the limits - some of this just the nature of being in a service business and I've yet to see an organization in this industry that doesn't suffer from the same challenges. We do cool work and our clients really care about it. We work directly with executive teams and marketing leaders at really fast growing companies which means we have the opportunity to learn a lot about how those companies run and what goes into building products. It also means every dollar that they spend counts and when they spend it with us we want to make those dollars work. We deliver reports that clients take and use immediately to make decisions about which products to launch, package design to use or how to build a strategy to grow their brand. It's a different experience, but rewarding. Finally, the leaders are paying attention and listening. When concerns are raised, they are taken seriously and addressed as quickly as possible. They design new jobs to keep talent when an existing role isn't a good fit and look for opportunities to develop and train employees.
Cons
Like most places, the culture isn't for everyone. The people who do best are those who are willing to put in the work and care about the quality of what they are producing. It's not a big company and there isn't anywhere to hide, so if you're looking for a place where you can do the bare minimum and get by, this probably isn't it. It's also a place where the guy at the top is very welcoming to new ideas and suggestions to make things better - but complaining without solutions won't get you far. No place is perfect for everyone and this place is constantly evolving as we grow and learn. If you are considering Mindsight, I would suggest speaking with people who actually work there to assess if it's a good fit.
