Disastrous - Carpenter Modus Projects Employee Review

Pros

The crew in Newcastle were nice

Cons

Below poor management, a guy claiming to be a plumber sitting behind a desk and fobbing off issues to everyone else. High turn over in staff so no one knew what they were doing. Ridiculous timeframes, having to drive from monavale to musswellbrook just to tighten a handle. The paperwork is out of control. I hope you enjoy working after hours to quote jobs and on weekends going to the tip. You’re basically a sole trader for $40 an hour. The perks are good though, you get a crappy ldv van with a lit up dashboard and a rear door that won’t close properly. So there’s music for your commute. I honestly can’t believe they’re still in business.

Pros

I really enjoy working here because the CEO is approachable and easy to talk to, which makes a big difference day to day. The work environment is pretty relaxed and not overly formal, so it’s a comfortable place to get things done. The senior team are supportive and always willing to help out when needed, and the location is also really convenient, which makes the commute a lot easier.

Cons

There’s always room to keep improving, and I think a few small tweaks could make things even better. Continuing to build on communication across teams would be great, just to keep everyone aligned as things grow. There may also be opportunities to further streamline processes to make day-to-day work even more efficient. As the business evolves, having a bit more clarity around priorities and future direction could also help everyone stay focused and on the same page.

Pros

Modus is one of those rare places where the people and the technology actually match the ambition of the business. Teams are genuinely collaborative, leadership listens, and there's a real drive to keep improving how things are done. You're not just filling a seat — there's room to contribute, grow and make a real difference.

Cons

Growth brings complexity and there are always processes that could be sharper. But the business is self-aware about it and actively moving forward.
