Pros
An international atmosphere and free breakfast.
Cons
1. Monocle is run by middle aged men afraid of the future. 2. They are stuck in a past that never was. 3. Everything they stand for on paper (work/life balance, embracing the future, collaboration, depth) goes out the window when it comes to their own HQ. 4. There’s zero interest in the wellbeing and growth of their staff. 5. Decisions are made on whims and gut feelings, rather than hard facts or business intelligence. 6. The top management’s lack of any type of talent or skills, other than pitching employees against each other and stressing people out, costs the company hundreds of thousands of pounds. 7. The staff turnaround is the worst I’ve ever seen. Within a year the full department had quit, being renewed by a new batch of colleagues who quickly quit as well due to the appalling mismanagement of the publisher who somehow has kept his job. 8. People get fired because the publisher doesn’t like them, even though he hired them in the first place. Mind boggling.
