Pros

There are still some good people in there trying to survive a lousy management. You may get "career opportunities" by moving to another area with a better job title.

Cons

Suggestion: before reading my review, read everyone else’s and especially the answers from the company when the review is not favorable. More on that, later. ----------------------- While I worked at MotionPoint (for more than 10 years) I heard from other long-time employees two things that stuck with me. One was that the company was not really ONE company, but three companies that knew little about the other part: Sales, Development, and Operations. This was so true! Sales would sell things that didn’t exist, Development would present “new features” that were not really working as requested, and Operations would have to live with the consequences, half of Operations trying to make things work by manually doing things where the technical part was missing, the other half of Operations spinning reality to try to “explain” to clients why some things offered were not there. The other one was that the company went through a big transformation from the unicorn type (that, with the right development team management, could have been unstoppable), to a dinosaur trying to survive. Also very true. Upper management was never the best to start with, but little by little it started to degrade, and the last CEO is the least type of “leader” the company needs. He responds to flattering and doesn’t like any criticism, no matter what they say in the meetings. If you have followed my advice of reading other negative reviews before reading mine, you have probably noticed that their answer to bad reviews tend to be always along the lines of “we are sad that you didn’t bring up these issues, we are an open doors policy company, always ready to listen and see how we can do better”. The doors are open, yes, but criticism, even constructive one, tends to be dismissed or, even worse, to put a target on your back. Last week, I learned that they had yet another round of layoffs. I left the company way before it happened but I am sure once again it will be called “a needed adjustment to make sure we thrive”. It is the third or the fourth “adjustment,” and clearly, those are not making them thrive. Don’t get me wrong, the industry itself is in dire straits with AI and Machine translation being able to do such a good job when it comes to localization. But this company lost its biggest opportunity years ago (when didn’t strengthen its translation tools) and now seems to be a dinosaur going through an arid zone, trying to get anything to eat... while upper management is denying that an asteroid may hit them soon.
