My Local Broker Response

I thank Glassdoor for the opportunity to reply. The comment on anger management just isn't true. I have never had an HR issue in 37 years and not sure where this is coming from or who, but confused by the comments. I can only reply, our business isn't perfect, I,m not perfect, and we need to make hard decisions every day. I wish this employee all the best in the future and apologize if they felt they needed to write this, but that doesn't mean you're not a great fit somewhere else and we wish you Good Luck and success. Thanks Again Glassdoor for letting us reply.

Pros

My team was awesome, everyday coming into the office was a pleasure and I consider myself lucky to have been a position to lead them. The business itself is in a challenging industry, and the philosophy around innovation means that things do tend to move quickly. If you're expecting to be carried in this business, think again. It takes energy and humility, and if you're someone who loves building things and actually producing, then step up to the plate. The CEO showed enormous faith in me, and I felt nothing other than respected the entire duration of my employment here, it's been fantastic.

Cons

One thing I found initially frustrating was that I didn't really have a lot of structure in my role. But if you're resourceful and can ask good questions you'll quickly discover the key focus areas and be able to impact the business in a positive way. I also don't really 'love' the mortgage industry, even though much of my role wasn't heavily focused on dealing with brokers. Dealing with most brokers was a great experience, there was a few however who expected far too much and felt they could push the business around because it's a startup, which leads to nothing but frustration on both sides and isn't the best approach to getting what they want/need.

Pros

A well backed startup, led by the Founder/CEO and major shareholder. From the moment I started working at MLB, it was evident this company was here to do something different, and that all staff were a key to the success of this business. Free Lunch Friday's are a big hit, and something you don't expect when working for a startup. The CEO is incredibly generous, with an open door policy. A large range of free snacks from chocolate to fruit and nuts are also provided daily, including random cupcake deliveries from time to time. It's been great working for a company that has big goals, well defined vision, and a team of Managers behind the CEO that are all on the same page with where the company is headed. A great place to be, array of amazing coffee shops locally including quick access to Bay St Port Melbourne for a bite.

Cons

Parking on the street, but plenty of public transport options.
