Pros

Had good management, but most of the good ones have left the company.

Cons

Benefits and pay are rubbish. Bonuses are joke, some years you get around 500 dollars worth of NV5 stock. In order to cash out bonus, you have to have the NV5 stocks for 3.5 years and stay with the company within that timeframe or you will lose it. No career advancement opportunities or programs are available. Some years you get lucky and get a pay raise, and other years you don't. The office has a toxic work environment, a small amount of people make goin to the office bearable. Even though I'm not a woman, I've certainly noticed that the company has misogynistic VP. It's gotten so bad were he has screamed to women employees in front of the other staff. Most of the office issues are tied to him in general. He makes constant promises to employees, and then forgets he ever made them. So many good employees have left this very reason. I'm for diversity, but all the new hires have been friends of the VPs congregation. I have nothing against other cultures/religions, but it seems like they are given more career opportunities than other people that not share the same culture/religion.

Pros

The office staff cares about employees, the staff is very caring about eachother, lots of after-work activities, good and honest work, managers are attentive to needs, and there are plenty of opportunities to move up the ladder.

Cons

Sometimes I'd rather be at work than at home.

Pros

Good teamwork, collaborative environment. Good amount of celebratory food type events during the work day throughout the year. Amazing CDO and employee resource groups and support of minority employees. Flexible unpaid time off when you inevitably run out of PTO and flexible schedule within reason for your responsibilities. There are a lot of good people that still work here from the small company days. Management is trying to improve some things on a corporate timeframe (very slow). Big company does mean you could probably transfer easily across the country/to Canada with recent merger if you're looking for that opportunity.

Cons

Micromanagement, low wages, drama with promotions, highly stressful. Company cares more about margins than delivering quality data and providing a career to the production team. Upper management is out of touch and overly involved in technical decisions that they don't understand. Years served usually means more to management than individual competency (in terms of promotions and opportunities). Benefits are just okay, most people use their spouse's if possible. Company shortcomings are seeing a severe brain drain occur. Wouldn't trust this company for a career let alone job security unless you have a lot of patience and budgeting skills. Working here kinda looks bad in the geospatial world as most everyone knows it's just a data factory, if you care about a geospatial career you'll have to work pretty hard and/or get lucky to move from here.
