Pros

Some nice people, free shoes, nice head office with a big kitchen, and that's about it.

Cons

Salaries are very low, especially for Vancouver with no opportunity to ask for more even if you find yourself constantly working overtime (with no pay), there are no bonuses, and little opportunity for growth (unless someone quits or gets let go). The company has repeatedly been asked to change its name for several years now since there is no association to anyone who is "Native", they're all white. But regardless of staff, customers, general public, and advisors suggesting they revisit the name, Native Shoes remains to be their name. Most of the people who work at Native Shoes are lovely, but management and above have enormous egos and a lack of understanding for what they're asking from their employees. There is a high amount of pressure in the day-to-day with little return. There is a lot of talk about "integrity" internally, but a LOT of lies from upper management. It's confusing, insulting, and has repeatedly caused crying at desks, and high turnover. A lot of unhappy staff means most lunches, volunteer days, and spare time spent with colleagues is usually spent talking about how much everyone hates their job. They shout a lot about sustainability and the planet, but they make plastic shoes that they claim to be recyclable. But they're only recyclable in the sense that the company takes the shoes back, grinds them up, and then creates big cubes that they then call seats. Or they put them into the ground under parks and claim the park to be softer for kids. It's nonsense. They're just putting plastic into the earth.

Pros

A very dedicated core staff who are passionate about the brand

Cons

A very challenging corporate culture riddled with Est principles and people in key roles that have been there far too long and are unable to solve issues that they themselves created
