Pros

Leadership is committed to improving the company, in optics and in practice. Work is fun and in beautiful places. Housing can be great. People in outdoor education are typically a nice crowd

Cons

Housing can also be gross. Working for a nonprofit pay is often low, but the hourly pay cap even after working there for years is just so low. It’s hard to imagine moving up and making a sustainable amount of money. There is a lot of work to be done outside of paid work hours

Pros

Great place to work if you want to be outside with kids and like to teach! Lots of freedom in planning activities. Staff housing is provided. Mostly consistent work with some opportunities to delve into other departments.

Cons

The voices of negative educators are louder than the voices of happy ones. It can be challenging to find peace and rest at home when you live in the same community with a coworker who is unhappy. Pay could be better, but this is true for most jobs in this field.
