Pros

Learned how to deal with extremely difficult people (if that's even a plus?) The operations team members (not leadership) were the only group of people in the company that were easy to work with and understand the technical side of the product in a best practice approach. Anyone outside of that group generally doesn't understand the source systems that are being connected to, the technical requirements to get connected, or how the platform works.

Cons

Where to start... startups are never perfect and I knew that going into it, but this place was the worst place I have ever worked. The CEO thinks he is the greatest person on earth and consistently talks down to his employees. He pushes his way into projects instead of focusing on helping lead the company (probably because he doesn't know how to be a leader and only cares about how he is perceived by the industry). Every project he worked on had to be corrected by the BI team because it was constructed so poorly and without best practices in place. I don't know about you, but I care more about the integrity and accuracy of my data than I do about how quickly you can get it up and running. What good is a fancy dashboard if it's wrong more often than not? Then, once he passed stuff off to other people half done and not documented, he would blame the rest of the team when they couldn't fix it or if the client was upset. This company would be better off if he resigned. He is toxic for the company and everyone feels like they are walking on eggshells when having to deal with him. He is keeping the company from reaching the heights it could go. Such a shame. That's just the CEO... he has hired people on that very obviously have no idea what they are doing in their role and make the experience for clients and employees an awful one. The fact that the leadership team had to have the operations team sit down and tell them all the things that are wrong then sent out a survey asking employees to rank the order of importance to address items with "respect" being one of the options is just wild to me. How is basic respect supposed to be ranked in order of importance among things like "budget" or "training" or whatever other options were on that survey?! Absurd. The fact that executives think they can just throw things together in BI is also very concerning. No one feels respected or listened to. There is such a lack of respect for personal time off or weekends. The expectation that you just be available whenever he needs with no notice is awful. They also don't care about workload. They set terrible deadlines to deploy clients, expect people to work crazy hours, then blame the team when deadlines are not met or subpar work is delivered in that time frame. I also brought up that after speaking with a client the product we sold them was not in line with what they were actually looking for. Instead of attempting to correct the sale, the CEO told me to just do it. All of this has caused the culture here to quickly decline and made it so bad to work there. Also, don't expect to get any kind of formal training or support. I've worked for some pretty amazing companies and some pretty awful ones, but this is easily the worst.
