Pros

This place might be okay for those just starting out in their career with minimal professional or technical skills. Because of its size, you're thrown in the deep end and touch many parts of branding and communications. You'll learn, by necessity, to multi-task and prioritize competing matters. And clients are doing really important work to change policy and public perception on social issues. Fully paid health insurance and decent 401k is a plus. Week off between Christmas and New Year's is a nice perk as well.

Cons

Despite the pros listed, I would never recommend working here. Even though they say employees are like one big family, unless you've worked there for ten years, are a family member, or have known the President before getting the job, you won't be trusted or respected. This is an extremely hostile environment where certain staff are labeled as "the ideal employee" and others are called "nosy" or "competitive." Don't get me wrong, these labels are not private. They're broadcast to all staff, making some feel superior and others to be made inferior. There is no HR, no training process, no employee manual. You're basically on your own from the day you join and if you don't do things their way you are publicly chastised. Oh and don't ask questions because you'll then be called out for questioning authority. My biggest problem is the general lack of respect leadership shows to staff and even clients. The "I know more than anyone" mentality is rampant. There is no career ladder and when staff ask for clarity around roles and career trajectory they are simply told that if you need a career roadmap maybe this place isn't for you. Everyone is expected to do everything, regardless of their role and the benefit is that you get to serve clients doing good in the world. So if you're working hard all the time you expect you'll be rewarded with time off, right? Nope, two weeks a year for everyone other than those who have been there for ten years. But again, there's no guideline for how you have the potential to accrue more and when that could be. I'll admit I soured to this place and it became very evident to others. But I also have never felt so disrespected, ostracized, and penalized in a work environment. I, along with two other staff I know of, began seeing a therapist because of the turmoil this place caused in our lives. If you have skill, take it elsewhere because it will be seen as a threat here.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback—even though this review dates back several years, we take all input seriously and with deep reflection. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience at Neimand Collaborative left you feeling disrespected and unsupported. That’s not the kind of work environment we ever intended to create, and we regret that we fell short of the supportive and inclusive culture we strive for. As a small, mission-driven firm, we’ve always tried to balance high-impact client work with an internal culture that values growth, collaboration, and respect. However, we now recognize that good intentions are not enough. Since 2018, we’ve made several meaningful changes, including: Hiring Process & Onboarding Improvements: We’ve implemented structured onboarding, clearer roles and expectations, and more equitable hiring practices. People-First Culture Shifts: We’ve worked hard to ensure every team member feels seen, supported, and respected—regardless of tenure or background. This includes introducing practices that support mental health, flexibility, and psychological safety. Professional Development: While we are still a small firm, we’ve taken steps to provide more opportunities for learning, growth, and meaningful feedback. Updated Policies: We’ve built clearer internal systems, guidelines, and communications to ensure consistency and transparency across the board. It’s painful to hear that your time with us contributed to personal distress. No one should feel that way at work, and we take your comments as a serious reminder of how important it is to lead with empathy, humility, and accountability. We continue to learn, grow, and evolve—and that includes listening to critical feedback, past and present. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely wish you the best in your continued career and well-being. Warmly, The Neimand Collaborative Team

Pros

1. Innovative and unique integration of multiple disciplines and insights. 2. Word of mouth client interest continues to grow and expand a business that focuses on client success, not company success. 3. Remarkable talent and opportunities create incredible possibilities for growth, learning and impact. 4. Anyone who steps up with genuine interest and commitment - and without their own agenda and ego - has direct access and impact with clients and internal team. 5. Meritocracy - No status or hierarchies. 6. Mentorship - A lot of energy put in to staff. 7. Rare combination of benefits and flexibility show commitment. 8. No limits and no ceilings on opportunities.

Cons

1. Not a place to punch the clock, carve out your turf or stay in a silo. Have to be willing to stretch and be stretched - and know how to collaborate productively. 2. Commitment to clients and getting work done right can be uncomfortable for those seeking compartmentalization, control and predictability. You have to make a difference by making a difference - no one gives you anything more than an invitation and opportunity. The rest you earn through contributions. 3. Just as there is no ceiling, there is no floor - poor fit sinks quickly.
