Pros
Location WAS in Santa Monica. Company has relocated to Maywood to save money as they poorly managed this business and scrambled to save themselves. They seemed like good people on the outside, but handled everything so poorly.
Cons
There was no HR to speak with in regards to the unprofessional behavior from the owners. That behavior included being passive aggressive towards certain employees, failing to deliver on promises, no clarity on the health care cost and plans, its an insurance account that the owners have for their family and they add the employees onto it. So it is very expensive and not suited for employees and individual needs. Many workplace safety violations and expired documents. This company held weekly meetings to go ver orders and concerns, but when concerns were brought up, they were never dealt with and pushed off to a later date; which never came. Their vacation pay system is so poorly set up as they don't keep clear records of accrual. They are not able to show where the time went when requesting off, but always have records on home computers to contradict and records an employee may keep. Employees who have quit and were owed vacation pay were flat out denied it without proper documentation to show how it was used. These concerns have always fallen upon deaf ears when brought to owners attention. They have credit cards that employees use to pay for shipping, supplies, bills, and etc that are always being declined. Multiple cards on file and all have been maxed out, overdue bills coming in the mail and not being prompt at paying them. Undeliverable lead times promised to clients without concern for clients own business. Emails and calls go unaddressed as employee don't have answers, and management will not take charge of the issues. No accountability with owners, think they can fix every issue with a box of chocolates. Every single employee (5 total) quit this company within 4 weeks of each other due to management ignoring these issues. They will talk negatively about the employees after they quit, yet before hand they praise them. There were no training manuals or clear way how to work at this company, and each employee had to wing it and figure it out with the help of fellow coworkers. When everyone quit, they hired an unqualified interim manager to oversee transition. This person admitted they have no experience in doing this and couldn't figure out how to create proper training guides. So who ever is starting with them, will not be given the right tools to succeed. Each time they hire a new person, they reduce the pay, yet the workload increases. Everyone was on salary ranging from 49k-63k and before this group salaries were from 55k-70k. It appears they have now hired for hourly positions, as they couldn't figure out what salary exempt meant when asked. They would try and make you make up for lost time but wouldn't pay you for overtime. Last we all saw one of the owners listed their sports car on CL to try and float the company a few more months, and as I am writing this I see they are looking to hire another Client Service Associate position, one in which they filled on 9-02-2016 after an employee left. So it appears they are continuing to lose people. And one other things is they have cameras in their warehouse that record audio and they did not disclose this to anyone working in the warehouse when doing so. Hope they have notified all new employees of this.
