Pros

There are some good employees there and some friends to make, the office hours can be reasonable.

Cons

The way employees are treated is awful. I've heard the CEO say numerous times how much money he has and how he has the biggest house on his street, yet the employees are paid terribly and are expected to work so hard and not complain about not being properly compensated. When pay is addressed, he will pass it off as 'not his decision'. He has also made fun of several of the employees behind their backs but acts very friendly to their faces - does he not think we talk to each other about this? The other owner is very disrespectful in how he talks to the employees and talks down to you all the time. He is very uncomfortable to be around. One example : Just last year he screamed and swore directly into a woman's face in front of several employees. The woman was not an employee here, he was screaming at her to leave our warehouse, and it was awful especially for employees to witness that. They are extremely quick to threaten to fire you for anything. A very 'if you don't like this, there is the door' mentality. As another review said, dealing with the angry vendors over money issues is a constant. The products we are shipping out are very cheap, but they act as if we're the best in the business. We're always told we are such a leader in the industry, but this is a sinking ship. This place is managed so poorly. No employees are valued, unless you are one of a very few handful of people that are favored. I've never been talked to by managers at a job the way I was here.

Pros

Nerd block has currently gone through some restructuring. Most recently (as in last week) Nerd block cut about 20% of their office workforce. This much necessary restructuring was the result of two things: 1) Better staff that have pushed lower-performing staff to the sidelines, and 2) the company was simply overstaffed as it is. Of course layoffs will always bring out the worst in those who were fired. As someone who isn't a manager but has access to many people's workstations and has an insight on what people are doing this layoff should have happened a long time ago. There was a lot of dead weight. Lets replace those guys with some real talent. I consider this a pro because I, and many of us, were getting tired of working our butts off all day only to have someone sitting beside us playing around on Facebook or watching youtube. Thank you for making the difficult decision, Nerd block. We're a better company because of it.

Cons

We need to close some of these open deals! Let us get going on our future plans. So much hard work and planning went into some really big partnership blocks with massive studios and it feels like we're not moving forward fast enough. We should really make the holiday season with these products.

Pros

Young company, some cool products hours are ok

Cons

I've worked at Nerd Block for the past two years. All I can say is run away and never look back.... Although at first this might seem like an awesome company to work for it really isn't. The executives are horrible, I mean really horrible. They scream and treat the staff like crap. They constantly put more responsibility on your shoulders, with no extra pay. They want more and more and more out of you all well demeaning you. The owner is a young guy who just doesn't seem to know what's happening with his company. He seems to value the opinions of the executives that work for him and ignores the staff that they keep in the back who are treated like dogs. I know this has been brought to his attention several times but he just buries his head in the sand. It's sad really, this company could have been something special but is so poorly mismanaged. The staff turnover is huge. Not worth it for $12 an hour with no raise in site.
