Pros

The New North culture prizes efficiency, collaboration, and excellence. I experienced accelerated professional development and made some solid friendships with coworkers. By using an agile-based methodology for project management and relying on operational techniques leaned from business gurus and military units, there is an energizing balance between protocol and the constant quest for improvement. There are no sacred cows here. Meetings are never a waste of time, every team member is updated weekly on the financial standing of the company, and everyone is expected to give and receive constructive feedback to other members of the team (regardless of longevity or title). The office space is amazing. The restored historic building creates a modern industrial vibe while providing comfortable places to concentrate as well as collaborate. The staff really care about each other. They view coworkers and clients as people, regularly talk about their families and hobbies, and they love to encourage each other and make each other laugh.

Cons

These guys peg out their RPMs all day, every day. Working 9-10 hours/day is normal, and most people work through lunch breaks (not expected by management, but the culture is to work until the job is done). The intensity comes from a desire to excel combined with demanding clients. Internally, the team has your back and is a safe place to be honest when you need help, but the client base in large B2B tech firms constantly press for measurable ROI for the thousands of marketing dollars they spend each month. Some staff thrive under the pressure, but for me the fast pace, hours required to keep up, and constant pressure from clients was too much.

Thank you for the review! Everyone has different proficiencies and strengths. Very few members of the staff work the hours posted above, and much of it depends on your own personal workflow and strengths. This particular team member is greatly missed at the company personally but also aspired and asked to take on a role outside of his/her strengths and it eventually caught up with them sadly.

Pros

•Days are structured, no sitting around waiting for the next task to come in. •Work was relevant to the position I was hired for •Fun team that treats it’s employees like family

Cons

•Putting a time limit on creativity can be a challenge at times but good solutions/additional time to work on projects help to alleviate this •Free parking is hard to come by around the office

Pros

They are remote first with reasonable salary offerings.

Cons

The Christian element is long gone just in case anyone was concerned when reading prior reviews, so I don't think it's a fair criticism any longer. I only heard a comment during my first morning stand-up meeting about 'wait, what about prayer' and management squelched it immediately so they were at least recently out of that weirdness by the time I started. Other cons though: - Poorly adopted AGILE project management, but they adopt and experiment with new work models all the time so may no longer be relevant. - You can hear the Adderall in leadership during meetings. - I was hired to lead client facing meetings and form content marketing and SEO proposals. Within the first hour I came online as a new employee, I was bombarded with copywriting tasks you would expect from an Upwork hire. A Slack comment from management read 'his plate is open and ready for copy tasks.' - I was asked to deliver client SEO audits same-day and encouraged to just use ChatGPT to generate it, as the client won't look at the report anyway. - They win big client engagements and coast on passive relationships, which is a successful agency model so I do respect it. If you are interested in scaling that model alongside them there is a lot of great opportunity and do recommend them for it. They have rebranded as "Marketers on Demand" but might also shed that brand once it becomes a problem. - Health insurance is super rough but understandable from a small company.
