Pros
(Non)-Corporate culture, as-long-as-you-get-it-done leadership attitude--no micro-management, mentorship of soft skills, encourages career growth through outside certifications or research, BBQ Thursdays, Ice-cream for your birthday. A real family dynamic, even as the company grows. Everyone pulls their weight without needing to be told to.
Cons
The product development process is certainly different from the research process, and having a 'just do what you gotta do to get it out the door' mentality can certainly motivate, but can also cause frustrations down the line.
