Company that is pushing the bar for higher quality on financial services, even though it's still a bank - Lead Software Engineer Nubank Employee Review

Pros

- Cool technical challenges (complex domain, massive scale, lots of consumer pains to solve) - Good compensation - Good benefits (120 days parental leave, 30 days/year paid vacations) - Mostly remote work, with in-office meeting every 3 months

Cons

- Company has lost a lot of high talented workers since IPO and beggining of COVID-19 pandemic - As any other big company, it can be difficult to get effective collaboration across different teams from different areas of the company. - Culture contradiction: very personal opinion here, but the company claims to be customer focused, and yet it charges extremely high (and abusive) interest rates as any other brazilian bank, which sounds as a big contradiction to the company's main cultural pillar.

Pros

Lots of exciting bets being made, many growth opportunities, very smart people who also know how to have work life balance

Cons

Priorities shift a lot which can be frustrating, but that's part of the game of fintech (very fast moving)
