Pros

OffWhite is truly the last of a dying breed - A *true* full service design studio, where every part of the design process is considered and managed to perfection, from start to finish and beyond. From business conception, to brand positioning, visual design strategies, marketing direction, actual designing and branding, social interactions, physical production/design & production with partnered facilities around the world, physical large scale-vender print production and management, and Web/UI/UX/ development - (to name a few), OffWhite is a great place to be a part of if you are TRULY serious about the business of design, commercial art production, and the industry as a whole. It's work, not free money - but it's also a labor of love and generates and irreplaceable feeling if you love it and live for it. Josh White is also a pretty incredible person in his own right. He lives, breathes, bleeds, and dreams OffWhite - and it is an incredible sight to watch him do his thing. Never before have I worked under a director that will work on a project all day at work, then at home until 2 AM, wake up and hit the ground running and working at 5 AM, to catch a flight to China for 7 AM, while handling international client-communications and managing/directing the design crew, all at the same time. It's incredible, admirable, and inspiring to witness - and that passion/fire is increasingly harder to come by in the work place today. As a Designer: I get to work with a diverse pool of clients/projects and always have something to satisfy me. On any given day - its possible to work on projects with 3-4 different clients, changing gears and doing different tasks throughout the day. It ranges from times where I have the freedom to experiment and develop the very beginnings of design concepts, all the way to managing print/production level mechanicals of large scale projects to be distributed on an international scale. Theres never a dull moment, and I'm learning more that I could have ever imagined every day - despite having production experience and 5+ years design-field experience. As for the team & crew: They have become family. (And with a smaller-sized studio that happens) A great group of fellow unrelenting designers that are in it for the right reasons, committed, and genuinely care about the quality of work and end-product they produce. Every project truly is a team effort and everyone does their part. And never have I felt an uncomfortable amount or a sense of ego from any co-workers. (Which, can happen in the design field) Setting/Atmosphere: The office is nice, open and spacious. Physically large, no - but its layout is conducive to team work and everyone has their breathing room and space to do work. All designers have their own iMac rig, and we have a workroom/comp room with cutting board, Lightbox, supplies etc for hand work. And on top of it all, you're in Times Square! - That in itself has pros and cons but, its an experience and always exciting nonetheless. Plus there some pretty amazing lunch spots everywhere you look so - that always helps. Overall: OffWhite is a special studio that gives back what you put into it. It is a place to make some really diverse design work, invaluable industry experience, and grow around those that love and care about the business.

Cons

Like I said - It's work, not free money. Sometimes that means there is a client deadline and you have to hustle and grind to get the work done. Or there are client/project politics that stifle, halt, or disrupt projects. However, thats all part of the job/the design world and can be found at every studio. Overall: If you want to work hard, truly grow, and learn - you'll be fine.

Really laid back and just wants everyone to be comfortable and happy! Close quarters and young crowd so its nice and the music is A1...depending on who's playing it. Office Snacks is a plus!! Hour lunch Honestly a GEM of a design firm- Diverse clientele so the work is always interesting.

Pros

The office managers (there was turn over during our time working together) and design team were all wonderful to work with. Very helpful and always good spirited.

Cons

I work with a lot of creative types and know there are always differences in view and aesthetic but Josh was the most difficult person I have encountered professionally. We worked on creative for a mutual client where Josh was supposed to aid in creative direction. Josh was extremely condensending and mygonistic. He waisted a lot of client budget making poor decisions and slowing down the process with very little benefit to the project. It is important to be meticulous and thorough but this should never have a negative impact on the brand. It was painfully evident that Josh did understand the market but rather wanted to have his hand in everything so that he could assume all credit. He often would approve things to later retract his approval, again waisting client budget as well as time and energy.
