Pros
absolutely none. even after a lay off they continue to mess with you.
Cons
2 guys get laid off. One files for unemployment benefits and provides the separation letter to the dept of labor. Dept of labor calls the company to verify the guy was laid off and not fired...company reports to dept of labor that the guy is still employed full time and getting paid 3 months after the lay off. Dept of labor will not pay out the unemployment benefits. Company contacted but does not try to correct the situation. Dept of labor says to file an EEOC complaint and try to recover the money that way. Other guy gets laid off while on VACATION! He gets back but has but has not checked his mail. Goes to work on Monday and they tell him he has no job anymore. He reminds them that he has 20+ years seniority at the plant and he is senior to all the people he sees at work that day. How can he be laid off before all the newer people? So they offer him hours at a different plant and he goes there figuring it is all ok. Then he finds out they "rehired" him at the other location as a new guy with no experience. Cut his pay to new guy level, no bonus, no seniority anymore. He starts at zero.
