Pros

- The products fairly good: Lots of people use the product and there is tons of free sign-ups that occur daily. Many small businesses can easily sign up and get going - People are quite nice and depending on your manager, there is a lot of flexibility - OneSignal is somewhat well known in the developer space and has a large marketshare of the free/low cost users who need a messaging solution. - We have lots of cool and great clients that use OneSignal for their messaging needs. -Great work life balance. Don't really need to be too involved with work

Cons

The company has fundamental problems that can summarize as such: - We do not have feature parity at the enterprise level and move slow on building things we need to compete with our main competitors who are making real $. - Lack of Direction. There was a recent change is structure in how the engineering and product teams work together. Engineering has had issues with features Product wants to build and why specifically we are building them. There are times in our pod meetings where I am unsure if the project we are working on is needed/or worth building. - We have a lot of managers, and no leaders (especially true of our executives). It’s hard to tell who’s driving the bus here at OneSignal, and if they are even qualified to drive it. Many of the managers seems like “Yes Men/Women” and those that rock the boat don’t typically last long. - Our company growth has leveled down to very low levels (meaning our that stock you get is worth less and less - & given our metrics it isn't worth buying at the moment). Top sellers have left/been let go stunning many and causing confusion. Although I am not 100% sure of the nuances of sales, the sales team looks to be a mess and the recent departures look very bad (even though our CRO tries to spin it otherwise every week on our weekly company calls). - Lack of transparency - People being fired with no explanation to the rest of the team. I found out someone has been let go weeks after their last day - a long-time employee that is quite visible and core to our office. We were just expected just to carry on and ask no questions about why they were let go. It’s difficult to watch extremely talented and successful team members be fired due to the personal politics of senior leadership.

Thank you for the review and for sharing the feedback. Every startup has challenges, but I believe a conversation with your manager or myself could help address many of your concerns. We strive to live up to our values of rigor and empowerment, which include being intellectually honest about the opportunities and challenges ahead of us and providing employees with the insights they need to contribute to our success. To that end, here are some quick insights on each point you raised: (1) Product Prioritization & Decision-Making - We take pride in both the rigor and speed of our decision-making. If you need insight into who is driving a decision or why we choose to do something, this information is often available in our OKR tracker, or you can simply ask. We're always open to feedback if you have insights into something we can do better. (2) Growth - Every software company has seen headwinds in this market, but we’ve maintained rapid growth and excellent achievement across multiple categories. In the last quarter, we’ve added more than twice the net new number of customers as we did a year ago. Our win rate against competitors has steeply increased, and our new products have rapidly demonstrated success. While many other software companies have frozen hiring, our growth has enabled us to continue hiring. I can share more details about our opportunities & challenges if you’d like to schedule a time during my office hours or ask anonymously via OfficeVibe. (3) Staff changes - We don’t make these decisions lightly. Out of respect for impacted individuals, it wouldn’t be appropriate to broadly announce why someone was let go. I encourage you to discuss staff or performance management questions with your manager. (4) If you have more questions, suggestions, or concerns, I invite you to speak with me, Long, or submit your feedback anonymously through OfficeVibe. I personally look at all the messages submitted in OfficeVibe. Your feedback will help us build a better business and a stronger, collaborative team.

Pros

work from home. offsite meeting to build relationship with teammates and the company. owner has an optimistic personality and would impact people around him

Cons

No sense of ownership because: -from prespective of a software engineer, tasks are planned in short term 2 weeks sprint. No sense of ownership of big feature if only seeing two weeks sprint tasks. - in the middle of sprint, ad hoc task came and need to fix it urgently. feel loss ownership of the time in the sprint as well. - no time to think of improvement of feature before moving to new tasks
