Pros

Benefits are good. Coworkers on the front lines are great people with good hearts. I cannot say enough good things about the people who keep the daily shipwreck from sinking. They are great under terrible circumstances.

Cons

Everyone at the VP level and above, including HR, are out of touch with reality of how to run and support a business. VP+: Ontada is neither structured nor supported to operate at the expectations of senior leadership. They consistently make decisions and promises without looking at the true cost of delivery. Then blame falls on the “doers” when timelines and expectations aren’t met. The VP’s cannot come together and make one roadmap to see where help and support are needed to meet the priority of the business. They instead focus on their own specific needs which guarantees failure. Even with short wins, there will be more losses long-term that employees will bear the brunt of and will cause people to leave. Attrition is something Ontada can’t afford. Losing good people due to bad management is their highest risk. You do not have to look too deep to see the VP+ backgrounds do not align with other companies in the same field as Ontada. How can they make up that gap? Bringing in less qualified people every couple of years is not the answer. A quick Google search will show how often senior leadership changes and the minimal, if any, progress that comes with it. Change fatigue is dangerous when the stakes are high and will drive the business down. It will continue to be one step forward and two steps back. HR: HR is there to protect the company, not the employees. Tread carefully in what you take to HR. While “H” stands for “human” - they ride that technicality and forget to be human”e” to employees.

Pros

The compensation is competitive, the benefits are excellent, and many colleagues you’ll work with are smart, talented, and supportive.

Cons

While the pay and benefits may initially seem appealing, anyone considering a role at Ontada should carefully weigh the advantages and disadvantages before accepting the position. The culture is deeply toxic, driven by poor and disconnected leadership that lacks transparency and shows little regard for employee well-being. You can expect to work well over 55 hours each week as the norm—not the exception—without any acknowledgment or compensation for burnout. There is little to no opportunity for professional growth or skill development, making it easy to stagnate in your role. Leadership creates an environment of mistrust, and communication often feels evasive or manipulative. One of the most glaring issues is the lack of BIPOC representation in leadership positions, which fosters a sense of exclusion and limits diverse perspectives at the decision-making table. If you're seeking a place to grow, be supported, and maintain a healthy work-life balance, Ontada may not be the right environment for you.
