Pros

Unless you were in the military, it's a type of job you won't experience anywhere else in the civilian world. Fun opportunity if you are a student. You submit your availability for the next month, although it's by shifts, not hours. Sometimes you will play the bad guy and shoot blanks at cops, sometimes they will beat you with foam batons. Sometimes you will get drunk on the job to help officers deal with sobriety testing. Sometimes you'll be a dead body for 3-4 hours in a mass casualty or active shooter scenario. You will develop your confidence and people skills and learn how to bs your way through anything. There is a lot of downtime, and you will have great conversations with your peers.

Cons

Be very careful with this contractor. I haven't been in for a while now, and I'm not sure if they extended their contract with Homeland Security, but they were shady af. Low pay, no benefits, and high turnover. A lot of mistrust and micromanagement. Hours are never guaranteed and are used to threaten people. You will always be just a number that can easily be replaced and kicked out if you become inconvenient by having a life or get hurt on the job, which happens a lot. Get in, take what you can from it, and get out.
