Pros
Despite the cons, there are a few pros to working at Optimity - The biggest shame about Optimity is that during my time there, I met some incredibly talented, dedicated people that were willing and loyal enough to put in the hard work to make much needed changes within the company and make it a fantastic place to work. Unfortunately they never get far, due to the issues mentioned in cons. - It can be used as a stepping stone for inexperienced individuals looking to progress and gain experience in the industry, due to the chaotic working environment employees are forced to learn fast. - Optimity’s main “Wibre” product is a solid and interesting idea, were it implemented/maintained competently.
Cons
- Highly stressful environment due to poorly run day to day systems (seen in all departments). - Many heads of departments would rather blame another department than work together to resolve the issue. - Upper management completely incapable of listening to their staff when suggestions made that could change the company for the better, many that try are shunned afterwards for their efforts. - Severe issues with budgetary allowances, stock is often missing or passed around and engineers are left without sufficient equipment to perform tasks. - Promises made to customers which are often impossible to honour for other departments, resulting in stress/arguments within the company, and with customers. - Promises of pay rises/reviews are often verbally made, but never followed up on, staff members are normally only taken seriously if they hand in their notice. - Incredibly high staff turnover due to issues faced, in as little as six months most departments are unrecognisable. - Narcissistic Managing Director would rather surround themselves with “yes men” then listen to employees and deal with the issues (it can’t be a coincidence that the only positive reviews found on this site are submitted by current employees).
