Pros

There are some smart people that you might be able to network with in the future.

Cons

Management loves to treat people poorly. If you aren't part of the clique you are on the bottom of the pile or on the way out the door. I've seen people treated very poorly, including getting yelled at in meetings (many curse words used, completely no appropriate). Even for simple things, like asking questions. The company path itself is muddled and changes every quarter to there is never any ramp up to any sort of growth. Company stays very stagnant as far as number of customers due to high churn.

First, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review. I agree that we have a very strong team at OptionsCity and these are contacts that I hope everyone maintains. Second, I am disappointed to hear about some of your less than positive experiences. As one of the founder of OptionsCity and its CTO, I can tell you that one of the main reasons we started OptionsCity almost 10 years ago was to create a work environment where ourselves and our colleagues enjoy coming to work and making a difference. You point to certain situations where that may not have been the case. I am personally involved in a lot of the discussions on the management and engineering side and I have not experienced that type of behavior. While some of the meeting may get a little heated, due to how passionate people are, they are not disrespectful in nature and better decisions always come out of them. As a company we DO NOT tolerate the sort of behavior you describe. I can also vouch for every member of the management team and their commitment to employee growth and satisfaction. I would love to discuss this further. Feel free to email me at victor@optionscity.com, or if more comfortable, please reach out to Human Resources at hr@optionscity.com.

Pros

I've been to couple of different places as for internships and this experience was by far the best one. One can improve his career very fast by working here far from pressures and stresses thanks to their experienced and friendly managers - Super friendly culture where everyone wants to help each other. - Organized training/on boarding procedure - Continuous new ideas for cherishing employees and providing them with some extra rewards. - Fully equipped kitchen with all the snacks you can think of and the convenience of free lunch being delivered to your desk everyday. - Fridays fun activities.

Cons

Honestly, there is not a thing I can think of as a con!

Thank you for writing a review on your recent internship experience. We are not a big organization and, therefore, do not have an extensive internship program. However, as you are attesting, when we do have students joining us for the summer, we take them through an intense on-boarding and training process and want to make sure they accomplish a number of goals, some of which are: - Gain in-depth knowledge of how the organization works. - Gain an advanced-level expertise in regards to Options pricing and modelling and risk. - Gain advanced-level expertise in the OptionsCity platforms. - Gain expert level expertise in Freeway and other OptionsCity API’s. - Expand Java knowledge in areas of multi-threaded programming and design patterns. - Come up and implement at least of one trading algorithm as a Metro Widget to be hosted on the CityStore (citystore.optionscity.com). - Complete a company and intern relevant capstone project. - Present the capstone project in front of a company wide audience. Thanks, Victor

Thank you for your review and for painting a very comprehensive picture of working with OptionsCity. I am glad you included some of the recent developments like the move to our new Chicago office at Adams and Wacker and the YouEarnedIt Employee Recognition Program. One aspect of the benefits package that we are excited about is the 3-month fully-paid Sabbatical program after 8 years of service. Thanks, Victor
