Pros
Learning Curve Support: What stands out most is how well the company supports the steep learning curve that comes with this work. Between mastering emerging technologies, understanding military protocols, and navigating government structures, there's a lot to absorb quickly. Oteemo provides excellent technical mentorship and creates space for questions without judgment, which can be crucial when working with tight cybersecurity requirements and compliance frameworks. Diverse Collaboration: The variety of teams I work with keeps the role engaging - from Data Ops and Pipeline Ops to Container Hardening specialists and leadership on initiatives like software security. And most of my team members don’t work at Oteemo - we are a blend of talent from multiple companies. This exposure across different technical domains and organizations has helped a lot in my own personal career development. Supportive Culture: The company culture genuinely prioritizes helping consultants succeed, both in the work assigned, and in your personal career growth. Each employee is assigned what is effectively a mentor to meet with you weekly, to guide you through any needs - your assigned projects, employment details, or personal matters. And if any issues occur, the members of the team are ready to jump in to help, even when navigating complex stakeholder relationships and technical challenges. Work from home in many roles is supported. It’s easily the most supportive environment in which I’ve ever worked. Growth Opportunity: The company has a list of courses and a reimbursement structure, for increasing your technical skill development. Employees are incentivized to achieve certifications, which also help you move up. Benefits: Very solid offerings, generous PTO program.
Cons
Work schedules: Working all across the time zones in the US can mean not everyone is available when you need them. SharePoint: Not a great service for sharing company information with employees.
