Pros

Most staff are driven to support young people with SEND. Staff are exceptionally resilient - the work is emotionally and physically draining but I really admire how hard everyone works. You can make a real difference to the lives of young people.

Cons

Leadership prioritizes profit over quality, resulting in cost-cutting shortcuts, including an unsuitable school site. The company is fearful of Ofsted but doesn't understand their expectations, leading to unnecessary work. The four-day workweek is misrepresented during interviews, and despite repeated concerns, the company continues to mis-sell it. Pay is lower than what is typical in the sector, and staff are often given extra work without additional pay. The company delays pay increases and only responds when pressured. The lack of proactivity makes staff feel undervalued and taken advantage of. A lack of proactivity and poor staff treatment causes shortages, worsening work conditions. The behavior policy is poorly implemented due to staff being overworked and unclear guidelines. Staff have low academic expectations for some of the more able students. IT are off-site with long phone queues, making issues hard to resolve in the busy school environment. HR are inefficent. When joining the company, I had to provide the same documents multiple times due to lack of organisation.

Thank you for your feedback. We couldn’t agree more - our teams are incredibly passionate and driven in their commitment to delivering Our Mission, and we’re so proud of the positive impact they make on our pupils and their families. We’ve heard your concerns about the clarity of our 4-Day Working Week policy, and we want to do better. That’s why we’ve recently relaunched reduced working hours, following input from colleagues and leaders across the organisation. Our goal is to create a fair and consistent approach that works for everyone, while also ensuring candidates fully understand this benefit during the recruitment process.

Pros

Management listens to my ideas. 4 day work week as long as you get your work done. Monthly town hall meetings to keep us updated on where the business is moving.

Cons

Parking at the Bolton office is hit or miss.

Pros

None are obvious so far beyond a little investment in superficial things like a new coat of paint, and a new minibus which isn't being used very much!

Cons

Too many compulsory corporate training tasks that take up valuable teaching time and are very generic in nature. Interference with school systems and policies in the name of 'compliance' with group systems Large sums of money spent on wining and dining the big wigs while teaching staff have a very poor pension scheme and are not allowed to have a glass of wine at Christmas, even off school premises. Made to feel bad for not giving positive feedback in a workplace survey even though we are being honest. Lots of fancy mission statement stuff but unrealistic expectation on staff. Money more important than pupils Conflicting messages from above Rubbish IT systems Poor delivery of promised improvements and investment Poor communication
