Pros

The pros are that you do indeed get paid. Outlier AI is not a scam to steal people's information. If you've seen reviews from people on other sites complaining that they signed up but never got any work to do or something similar, it's likely that they didn't have relevant skills for any ongoing projects or that they failed all of their assessments and never got assigned to a project.

Cons

The biggest problem is the complete lack of communication between project management and the people actually working on the projects. It's very common to get assigned to a project with unclear instructions, only to get removed a few days later because you could never get anyone to answer any questions about the instructions and were therefore unable to complete tasks the way that they wanted. Similarly, the task review system is incredibly flawed. There is no way to ask reviewers for clarification on their feedback, and you can get a review that destroys your rating for one small detail that you missed but not have the option simply to redo the task once the reviewer catches it. Another major problem is that workers get shunted around from project to project on an almost daily basis sometimes. It's impossible to gain proficiency in a project's instructions and requirements when you lose access to the project and end up having to learn another one within 48 hours. The company recently added a function to their platform where workers can select which projects they want to work on, but primary project selection isn't allowed if you are assigned to a "priority" project. This can mean that the workers with the most skill get moved around the most to cover priority projects and end up getting exhausted and frustrated, or they never have time to build up enough familiarity with the project to produce high quality tasks before getting moved to another project, which results in consistent mediocre task ratings and thus some of the best workers are gradually shunted out of projects simply because they weren't given the opportunity to work well.

Pros

The short time that I had consistent work was very good. Never had a problem with pay. Paid fairly for work. Plus, I really enjoyed learning all the different tasks. With the "Cons" issues made clear upfront, I would recommend this platform to a friend.

Cons

Applied as a specialist. Only offered generalist work. And haven't had any new projects for a while. The projects I was invited to earlier this year were poorly designed and involved long onboarding processes. They were all iterations of the same poorly-designed project. Since then, nothing. It's frustrating to see job listings from them in my field of expertise and not be able to apply to them. And yes, I've kept my resume and LI updated. It doesn't seem to matter. Also, comparing the community chat platform, monitoring, and ease of use to other (similar) platforms I work with, Outlier's is the worst one. I've found that there are far more people who use Reddit to get their project questions answered and to try to find out what is happening than use and actually get answers from Outlier's own discussion platform.
