It's a small company that tries to operate like a large company. Many convoluted rules and operating procedures that didn't make sense. When suggestions with reasonings were made for improvements to processes, they were often ignored ignored with "that's not how we do it here." Management would try to catch employees breaking safety rules, while ignoring the rules themselves. Wearing safety glasses, hi-vis, and gloves are very simple rules that were constantly ignored by some in management, but if any other employee were caught they would get disciplined. If your work area had too much clutter, you would be criticized/disciplined for blocking access to safety equipment or exits, while there were multiples of each in any given area. Meanwhile, pallet racks in the warehouses would be blocking fire exits by more than 25% on certain doors, and when brought up on safety meetings were ignored. Much of the facility was "built" by the owners, it's a very hodge podge building, warehouse, and racking system throughout the facility.
