Pros

-Fun coworkers -Customers were generally nice -Great benefits due to union PCC was a solid place to work during the worst of the pandemic. Hazard pay was much appreciated, and in my experience, time off requests were always approved promptly.

Cons

After returning from medical leave, management did not want to accommodate a minor ADA accommodation request regarding scheduling and thought I was a problem for pressing it. In response, I was scheduled for a lower level position that wasn't mine with no explanation or justification. It was bizarre and felt like punishment intended to make me unhappy and quit. It would have been illegal to fire me outright over an ADA accommodation and I believe this was their workaround. General other retail issues (i.e. being asked to come in same day, management having favorites, inconsistent schedules) but that's a given.

Pros

Low stress side gig - combination of customer service and dishwashing, assisting nice chefs, helping adults and kids learn to cook. PCC discount is great. Customers are typically happy, chefs are good at what they do and easy to work with, classrooms are nice working spaces.

Cons

The cooking program has recently been revamped and is mostly meat-forward date nights. Current upper management has a top-down style and has burned bridges with many local chefs and past assistants.
