The struggle to maintain the number of hours that works best for an instructor is a constant one. A single-subject instructor will have just a few hours, while a Math/Science/Humanities instructor will have as many as they want. Because students are coming to us for just one or two classes (typically), our enrollment isn't consistent enough for full-time teachers (since we're not a full time school). If you're still on our team, I encourage you to reach out to me to discuss how to fill out hours with projects or possible admin work. We don't want to lose talented staff and are keenly interested in making the Academy work for our employees! - Kirsten, Exec Director

Pros

Students are great, office is super supportive, school pays for collab time with other instructors, paid training 4 or more times per year, opportunities to do more than teach (create teaching resources, mentor).

Cons

Because it's a supplemental school, hours are usually part-time. If you don't start at the beginning of the school year, you will usually have the after-school crowd (3 to 7pm or so), but in your second year you'll get lots of day students taking credit classes.
