Pros

Four day work week during the summer, RRSP matching, and devs are generally really good people. It *was* a great diverse place to work.

Cons

New CTO instantly put the entire team on blast. Is huge on public shaming (even when asked to bring criticism privately), swears actively in meetings, and makes many people uncomfortable. He pushes the team to implement massive large-scale changes on many things for really no reason other than he has a preference for one tool/technology vs. another, even when people highlight that both tools are functionally the same. He has huge problems with very specific people, and targeted them for dismissal/role reductions which drastically reduced the diverse pool of contributors that was originally there. Quite a few people have departed now due to him reducing the diversity that existed previously, causing many employees to feel unwelcome.

Thank you for your feedback. It is unfortunate that you did not have positive experience working at Paramount Commerce. We strive to create a positive, safe, and respectful workplace that values every team member’s contribution and fosters a sense of inclusivity. Regarding the push for large scale changes and tool preferences, as a payment solution provider it is necessary for us to continuously review, improve and modernize our approach and the tools we use to stay competitive and deliver best-in-class solutions. We appreciate the time you have taken to write this review.

Pros

Paramount Commerce is genuinely one of those rare companies that combines startup agility with enterprise-level impact. We're processing billions in transactions across multiple countries, building payment infrastructure that entire economies depend on - the technical challenges here are next-level. Yes, we went through restructuring in late 2023 with new leadership and strategic hires, but honestly? Best thing that could have happened. The new team has completely transformed our ways of working, product performance, and employee engagement. We went from contractor-heavy teams to a permanent, domain-aligned structure that actually works. This isn't your typical "agile theater" company. We do 5+1 cycles (5 weeks focused delivery, 1 week cooldown), have genuine operational excellence reviews, and engineers actually own their domains. No BS frameworks - just smart people solving complex problems with high agency and trust. Building distributed payment infrastructure across financial institutions, real-time fraud detection with sub-100ms response times, multi-currency systems. These aren't CRUD apps - this is the kind of engineering work that defines careers. Leadership actually understands the work (CTO who gets it), regular skip-levels, psychological safety for innovation, and a go-getter attitude without the typical tech toxicity. Remote-first but with real collaboration.

Cons

Fast-paced environment isn't for everyone - we move quickly and expect high performance.
