Pros

I absolutely love this place. I actually gave up my previous career to follow my calling to Pathfinder. The church staff is full of committed individuals that go out of their way to ensure that every part of the church experience is world-class. I mean it when I say that Pathfinder doesn't hire anything but rockstars. The staff communicates very well, they're kind to one another, and they extend plenty of grace when slip-ups occur. It's an active workplace with plenty of systems in place to make sure that staff members are cared for in all aspects of life. There are exercise spaces, enrichment sessions, and plenty of opportunities to connect with like-minded people. Pathfinder is also extremely generous with benefits. I feel like my family and I are being medically and financially cared for by a fortune 500 company, not a church. Our staff also features a variety of demographics, meaning that you can draw from multiple perspectives on problems both inside and outside the workplace. The best part about working here though? - It's the attitude with which the entire staff approaches their work. Everyone is constantly looking for a way to grow, adapt, and evolve to suite the ever-changing world around us. To have such opportunity for growth in an environment that also provides the stability of "home" makes me never want to leave!

Cons

Any jobs on the ministry side are likely not 9-5 jobs. You're likely going to be putting in overtime most weeks, staying late, coming in early, sometimes working from home. It's very easy to burn out if you don't have appropriate self-monitoring systems in place (which Pathfinder is great about making sure of). It's definitely workplace that has ebbs and flows. Some weeks are a walk in the park, while some feel like a constant grind. I actually like the variation, but it's not for everyone. Finally, because this staff is so efficient and high-capacity, there aren't really excess staff members, meaning that a lot of responsibility falls on each person.

Pros

I've never worked in a church environment that lives out its Christian principles as well as Pathfinder Church. This church wants to make a positive impact in people's lives, and it does so by leaning into the grace of Jesus Christ. Employees are invested in, both practically and spiritually. People are given the opportunity to explore their passions, which includes frequent reevaluations of job descriptions to better fit people's talents. Performance reviews are not based on shame or criticism, but on the aspiration to grow and make a meaningful impact for the kingdom of God. Every voice is valued, at every level of the organization.

Cons

It's very hard to think of cons. This is truly the best place I've ever worked. There is a high-performance expectation here that might not be for everybody, but there is also a ton of compassion and support—nobody struggles alone.
