Pros

I started at Polarsteps as a freelancer for what was supposed to be a a project of only a couple of months. I ended up loving it so much I stuck around, became an employee, and am now close to my two-year-anniversary at the company! What I love: * Transparant interview process with a very human approach * Truly great onboarding experience, lots of time taken to make candidates feel at home * Work-life balance is really important at Polarsteps: I don’t work overtime and parents in the team are given the flexibility they need to manage their home life * As an employee I’ve never felt more appreciated. It’s the little things: a thoughtful postcard when you’re going through something, or a gift when you’re celebrating a personal win * I sincerely like every single person I work with. They’re such a great bunch of people and there are lots of opportunities for socializing, like Thursday drinks and a book club (during office hours!), but I never feel pressured to join when I don’t feel like it either – we’re a good mix of introverts and extroverts * Giving feedback is actually encouraged and taken to heart – I’ve given lots of it over the past two years and it’s been so great to see changes being made because of it

Cons

What can still be improved: * Salary is discussed during the intro call of the interview process, I hope the salary range will be shared in the vacancies in the near future to make the interview process even more transparent * Diversity & Inclusion is a learning process and first steps have been taken, which has been great to see, but there’s definitely more work to be done when it comes to D&I at Polarsteps * I hope to see a bigger focus on sustainability in the future (we’ve recently started a green team, but it would be amazing to see it become a leadership priority at some point as well) * As a scale up, there are growing pains, and as a company we’re not perfect. But as long as Polarsteps keeps being as transparent as they are right now and continues to be so open to feedback, I think the future is looking really bright!

Pros

- Great vibe in the company, friendly & knowledgeable colleagues - Good balance between ambition to grow & having fun - Strong culture, the company lives up to its values - Exciting product with good traction + growth - The company cares and pays attention to details, from designing the app to creating an inclusive environment - Stable financial position, not dependent on external funding - Fun company stage: there is strong product-market-fit, there are enough people to get things done, yet the company is still small enough (~70 people) to know everyone personally

Cons

- This might not be a good fit for one if you're planning to move up the ranks fast due to it's flat organization. Polarsteps has many experienced individual contributors who are happy to operate (and keep operating) in such a role. Due to the size of the company, there are not many management roles (which is great actually).
