Pros
I got to make my own schedule, since I was a manger. Being one of the best employees is not difficult, due to most other employees being terrible. There are monthly raises, if you ask for them and are one of the few reliable employees. Lots of time to think while on the job. If you can entertain yourself by thinking of interesting things, this job is the best.
Cons
Dealing with rampant ineptitude was problematic at times. For every good life guard, there are two to three super lazy guards. Also, pay starts below the minimum wage, yet it costs $200 and a weekend to be trained. That's a sizable hurdle for most beginning guards, especially when McDonalds is hiring for better starting pay... That's not to say this job isn't worth applying to, I recommend it over most other highschool and college jobs.
