Cool projects....but dysfunction under the surface - Architect Progressive Companies Employee Review

Pros

We design some truly impressive buildings and have a range of clients who respect us. And the employees who step up to lead the Culture by Design committees deserve special recognition. Plus, we keep winning "Best & Brightest" awards (including national ones, I think.)

Cons

We're not always sure what's going on with Management. For instance, the company let go about 20 people last year for financial reasons....then wanted to hire a couple back? And then had a record financial year? And we've done major restructuring to work cross-office...but now people feel like they're part of even larger teams and less connected to one another. People will voluntarily resign (or get terminated) and it's hard to get a clear vision of what's going on.

Pros

The firm as a whole in the Charlotte office has amazing people.

Cons

- Will not hire adequate staff to balance out workloads. - Compensation appears to lag behind market standards, with professionals in comparable roles and experience levels at other firms earning approximately $6K–$10K more. - There is a perception that internal promotions are not a current priority.
