Pros

There are literally no positives.

Cons

This company’s toxic culture is rooted in its leadership. The CEO is a narcissist who openly disregards work-life balance, demands immediate responses, and spends his days with his feet on the desk counting LinkedIn likes. His unprofessional behavior has created a fake, two-faced environment where employees feel pressured to tell leadership only what they want to hear. The COO, promoted based solely on late hours rather than actual performance, micromanages to the point of stifling creativity. Adding to this dysfunction, the CEO recently hired a Chief of Strategy with no real experience and no understanding of the role. She appears to have been hired simply to monitor employees and report back to the CEO. Overall, this is a superficial, distrustful, and draining workplace. Steer clear if you value a healthy work environment.

Pros

Working at Qashio gives you exposure to an interesting fintech product, which is a solid addition to your portfolio. There are different modules to work across, so you do get a breadth of experience if you’re in the space.

Cons

Where to begin. The company has seen an enormous amount of talent walk out the door, and it’s not hard to see why. Toxic Culture: The work environment, particularly in product and tech, is deeply toxic. Product managers would request work, and once delivered, deny ever asking for it — forcing employees to create daily status reports just to protect themselves. Dishonest Management: Employees are let go without valid reasons. I was dismissed one day before my probation ended and was told verbally it was due to external circumstances, yet it was officially recorded as performance-related with nothing to substantiate that claim. My PM made false statements about my work ethic that did not reflect reality. Financial Instability: Salaries were consistently delayed. In one company-wide meeting, the CEO stated he had to sell his watch collection to cover payroll — hardly reassuring. Leadership Conduct: The CEO regularly bad-mouthed using inappropriate language. People were fired without warning or explanation, creating a constant atmosphere of anxiety. Legal & HR Failures: It took three months to process my work permit. During that period, I sustained an injury the company verbally agreed to cover. When reimbursement was requested, they refused and swept the matter under the rug — which is legally questionable. Micromanagement: Core hours run 9am to 6:30pm. Employees are discouraged from speaking to colleagues at their desks, creating a silent, fearful atmosphere.

Pros

-Good product. You might come across some individuals that truly work hard to learn from.

Cons

-Qashio, like many startups in this region lacks a clear roadmap to scale. It’s quite funny to me that the company is heading to Europe without even having a clear roadmap to succeed in UAE. Truthfully, it was the worst experience of my life to see how terrible the staff was treated and asked continuously to stay after working hours. The work culture reminds me of India more than UAE. I always felt mentally affected by how often I saw people get bullied and all they could do was smile, because Qashio is their only source of income. Please take care of yourself and think twice before you come here. Life is not worth such a demeaning experience.
