Confused company direction and lack of experience - Anonymous employee QuantSpark Employee Review

Quantspark has one overwhelming advantage, and that is, as noted by other reviews, its people. During my whole tenure the hiring was nothing short of exceptional and you will be working with a very talented and motivated bunch (keeping hold of them seems to present more of a challenge, but more on that later). The colleagues were a big part of what made working here so fun. If you want to get a lot of experience quickly, this is absolutely the place. You will work on a wide array of projects with a high degree of autonomy. This is an excellent way to learn. You will be encouraged to try new technology and experiment with new things, especially those with an AI flavour. These are material benefits that you would be hard pressed to get elsewhere. You will need to be comfortable with going outside the typical boundaries of your role and as such you will experience a very wide variety of project and sector. This advantage cannot be overstated and is critical to the value proposition of working at QuantSpark.

For me, the biggest drawback was remuneration. If you are early in your career or transitioning into a new role the wages are fair, however once you attain more seniority a clear gulf emerges between QuantSpark and the wider market. Projects are often accepted with 'ambitious' timelines. This leads to stress and prevents engineers having the breathing room to build truly great products. The company pivots too frequently. Communication from upper management can occasionally feel impulsive, making it hard to settle into a long term direction.

Following a thorough interview process, I experienced a smooth onboarding and was warmly welcomed in to my team and the wider business. It was great to be given the time to get to grips with role before being expected to complete any tasks. I have been introduced to lots of new technology which has made the role much easier and much more efficient. I'm enjoying the autonomy the role offers, but guidance and support is never far away should I need it. Flexibility is offered from day 1, with the entire organisation working hybrid. Its fast paced and no 2 days are the same, having worked in a start-up previously, the environment is something I am very used to.
