Pros

Dress code is casual for the staff.

Cons

Boss is the ultimate micromanager, and rushes staff to have quick turnover for documents when he is the one delaying the timeline. Indecisive and inconsistent in communication. Unprofessional and always bringing emotions to affect work (when good mood, everything ok, when bad mood, everything is not good enough). Rude when talking to staff especially those not management. Not receptive to feedback at all but pretends to listen and interrupts people. Is passive aggressive when unhappy with something. Claims to be transparent in comms but actually turns everything into some political game. Blames problem on staff when the management is the main problem. There is a high turnover rate (6-7 leaving in 1 year). Pretends to be open or flexible but actually only has 1 fixed way of doing things. Obsessed over insignificant details for work and blows things out of proportion.

Pros

None comes to mind, seriously.

Cons

A small team hanging by a thread, engaging young interns to get by. Isn't it about time someone do an investigation on the way this company is bring run?

Pros

the supposed vision for the company is great but it feels like just a facade to get grant money - the company isn't actually forward thinking in terms of its practices

Cons

The biggest giveaway of a toxic work environment is the high turnover rate! This ranges from collaborators to dancers to marketing to production crew members. Any long standing member is part of the problem. The director is verbally and emotionally abusive who plays mind games with his staff where one person will always "be in the dog house" and this can rotate among the staff. He also uses isolation techniques to make that staff in the dog house feel like they have no one to confide in and be ostracised by the rest of the company - and talking to the one in the dog house is frown upon. There is no HR and the company is so small - there is no recourse. The hires are often young, vulnerable fresh graduates who are dying for a job in the arts. They therefore put up with the toxic boss and not have the language nor the social capital/power to speak out even after they have left. The company is also involved in financial fraud and other unethical practices.
