Pros

no touch freight, decent benefits.

Cons

have to fuel at terminal and can only buy 50 gallons on the road. Trucks run 62mph, they tell you you'll make 44cpm, (now their ad says 46), but you're only making 35, they'll say you're home weekends, I made a delivery at 1am on my first sunday, then one at 3pm the following saturday. other than slow gutless trucks for low cpm, they're a great place to work.

I'm sorry to hear that you feel like someone lied to you. We are very open with our pay program and it is explained to all drivers both verbally and in writing before orientation. In addition all drivers review the pay program in orientation and sign an acknowledgment saying they understand the pay program. Our pay program is designed to compensate long haul runs with a base cent per mile rate and a "lump sum" or "flat rate" for runs that are less than 250 miles. The 44 CPM mentioned above is a blended long haul and short haul pay. Since all loads primarily start out and end back in Elwood, Indiana it makes sense for us to have a local fuel site for cost savings. Drivers are permitted to get fuel (50 gallons) at anytime while on the road, if a driver needs more than 50 gallons of fuel on the road the card is opened to allow the driver to get as much fuel as he needs. Weekend needs vary from driver to driver and our driver managers work with every driver to find that perfect blend of home-time and revenue. Like at any Trucking Company issues do arise and there will be a possibility that there may be a late/early delivery or pick up from time to time. Our policy is to get drivers home every weekend and we do. The "norm" of home time is based upon when you get home vs. when you go out. For example if something like HOS regulations prevent you from getting home Friday at 5 PM and you get home Saturday morning we will typically not bring you back out until Monday. If you get home on Friday at 9 AM, we might ask you to come back out on Sunday night. I do apologize that you felt that the issues you were having could not have been worked out by coming to us to discuss them. We are a very accommodating company and try our very best to be respectful of our employees needs and we always strive to make everyone successful.

Pros

This team really goes out of their way to get you moving, with minimal wait times. They care for their drivers, and it shows. Mechanics are great and keep equipment in great shape. I’m home every weekend which is hard to find in trucking.

Cons

As any trucking gig, comes with similar issues such as some waiting, other than that, not a lot of issues.

Thank you for the review and feedback, we really do appreciate the input and this type of information helps our family grow stronger! At RG Transport we strive to make sure our drivers program and benefits are above industry standards . As a current member of the RGT team you are aware we just gave our drivers a well-deserved, substantial pay increase. In addition to the pay increase we also announced other improvements in our benefit program that take effect in 2019. As a new member of the shuttle group I encourage you to come into the office and take advantage of our open door policy to discuss any operational issues that you may not fully understand with a member of our management team. We are happy to help coach all of our drivers in order to maximize their full pay potential. Also as you know that with tenure your pay will increase, so if you just started your pay will increase each year! In addition to pay as you stated we have a great benefit program, we offer a full range of benefits and want to make sure you are taking advantage of all of them. When you look at our entire compensation program, pay, bonus program, health care coverage, 401K retirement plan, FREE Health & Wellness Center, and other benefits we believe this is a strong program but of course we are always looking to make improvements for our employees. We have been a leader in the for hire food transportation industry since 1980, and divide the transportation operations into three divisions- Local Home Daily Shuttle, Regional OTR and OTR. They successfully operate independently of the other and have for many years. We mostly promote our current OTR drivers by merit into the local home daily shuttle operations as a reward for their tenure, safety, hard work and dedication to the company. We ensure to all of our customers, drivers and staff our mission is to provide quality transportation in the most efficient and safe manner. We do this by hiring and retaining the best drivers and employees in the industry. We hope you come into see us to discuss any additional issues you may have.
