Pros

Wind/ Renewable energy is sexy. Sounds cool when you tell people where you work, especially in a place like Austin/Round Rock. There were some great people working here. In-house materials testing lab was admirable. If you have the technical background and could make it into the office doing design work it would be an awesome job.

Cons

Worked field construction inspection and testing summer 2012. It was hard work but fairly compensated. Worked geotechnical boring in 2013 and they worked me to death while on salary. We're talking dusk til dawn and then some in heat, cold, wind, mud, doing the work of at least two people. It was enough to break anyone. In-house geotechnical engineering of everything from all over the continent may have been overreaching. Hauling so much rock and dirt back to RR from all over the continent seemed a little silly. Could be totally different now. Middle managers all on profit sharing and year end bonuses which means they have nothing but dollar signs in their eyes all the time. They make silly mistakes and try to make it up by working staff below them to the bone.
