Pros

As a professional with substantial military and military-related experience, I took a job with Raytheon because they owned the particular billet I was interested in. Raytheon has a lot of military-related positions as a large defense contractor.

Cons

I have my two-week notice and ended my last job on the 19th of the month based on Raytheon's promise to have me start on the 20th. Due to incompetence, unnecessary single points of failure, and lack of concern, I did not start until the 23rd and lost approximately 40% of pay for a pay period. That was just onboarding. Since then Raytheon has treated the employees on this contract poorly including reducing senior employees pay to lower than that of newer employees and mishandling what ended up being an unnecessary furlough. Promises to compensate said mishandling where never followed up on.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
